Made using complex fractal and procedural terrain generation techniques plus a bit of artistry combining delicate hand retouching and image compositing procedures, here's Planet Thais, a geologically active, primordial planet punished by the unrelenting gravitational forces of a nearby Gas Giant.
Thais comes as a Bryce .obp file Preset of the planet's surface and its thin sulfurous atmosphere as well. The base textures (colour map and bump/elevation map) are also included at a whooping 3K resolution (3073X1536) in case you are not a Bryce user.
If you find Thais useful, which I believe you will, consider purchasing my Atlas Coelestis Vol. 1 product, 12 extraordinary rocky planets either as Bryce Presets or as the base texture pack from my online store at the Renderosity Marketplace. And don't forget...please do show your appreciation by leaving a comment!
Here's some renders in case you are in doubt...
